Pool fencing
If you’re seeking a different look to the ‘standard’ or perhaps you’re wanting to match a particular design or theme you have around your home, we can help - there are many options to choose from, or you might like to create your own, as our customers from the Yarra Ranges area did…..
They approached us with an idea for wrought iron pool fencing, but they weren’t sure if it was possible as it definitely wasn’t a standard design & was quite involved. It had traces of the classic Art Deco style in the balustrade portion with a height differentiation going into the pool fencing area to ensure it, the gate & gate latch locking system were all compliant. Discussions, plans, sketches & site visits were all involved to ensure this job would work out as we had all planned – it spanned over several months with our team becoming very well acquainted with the property owners!
There can be difficulties & challenges in dealing with and manufacturing pool fencing which include:- levels and heights of ground competing with stairs that require pool fencing down to lower levels – all of which can definitely be navigated given the right people are doing the job. This was a large & complex project at 130 metres total, with final installation taking almost four days - another example of a job that required the experience, expertise & ability of the Eastern Suburbs Wrought Iron team to ‘think outside the box’. Our customers entrusted us to carry out the installation while they were overseas, to say they were ecstatic with the result would be an understatement! We too were extremely happy with the outcome.

One of our repeat customers was having a pedestrian gate and fence panels installed, prior to production commencing she phoned us with an addition. She wanted something a little bit different added, not curls, not swirls, not twisted bars, no extra patterns at all! She wanted to add in a couple of bats to the fence panels and owls on to the posts. She has an owl living in her backyard & her home is under a bat flight path, how relevant! Another happy customer, again proving that unique & unusual is possible with Eastern Suburbs Wrought Iron.

- safety for peace of mind

Safety and elegance is possible with our wrought iron handrails
- Hits: 3029
Over recent times, we have been contacted and visited by many ‘mature aged’ customers who explain their need for a handrail or handrails for safety reasons and their desire for them to be elegant, stylish and in the colour of choice.
Let’s face it, ‘standard’ handrails available on the market are rather unattractive & bulky - whilst they are there for a very good reason, they can cause a homeowner to be dissatisfied with the look of them, particularly if they’re needed at the front of the home.
Standard handrails are generally only available in basic colours. Our powder coat range offers most COLOURBOND® steel colours & some Dulux® colours, or we find many customers choose the more traditional black but it is nice to have a range of colours to choose from if required.
Recent customers have included downsizers who have moved to more manageable sized units rather than staying in their large homes - they’re often new builds which don’t include any handrails to the front, back or laundry doors.
This provides the perfect opportunity to enhance & individualise the front entrance to their new home rather than have a standard unattractive clunky handrail - handrails can be made in many designs and styles (classic & modern) we have many stylish options that can be tailored to your own individual taste.
Our wrought iron handrails ensure our customers are confident to get up and down their steps safely. Our handrails are strong, long lasting, easy to maintain & create the safety aspect our customers are seeking. After installations we are often contacted by nearby residents who are impressed & envious of their neighbour’s new wrought iron handrail, they then decide they’d like to have the same or similar.
Not all our customers wish to leave their home when all they need is a few safety items installed to enable them to stay home & move around safely.
Requests for something a little out of the ordinary & specific to customers needs is where Eastern Suburbs Wrought Iron excel - we can make anything, our customers come up with some clever ideas that we’ve been able to help with, such as the following: -
- We attached a handrail to the full side of a home for our customer to enable him to move along his driveway safely….
- A handrail for steps in the garden - as well as the safety aspect, we think it enhanced the look of the steps….
- Another clever idea was where our customer’s sliding door lead out to her deck area, but there was nothing for her to hang on to, she wasn’t venturing out as much as she wanted to because she just didn’t feel steady enough going it alone. She rang and asked if we could make & install a handrail for her to grab hold of as soon as she stepped out of the sliding doorway. We were able to make & install a handrail to the base of her deck thus allowing her the freedom to be outside & enjoy her garden….
The above solutions are just a snapshot of what we can do. These applications are specific & unique to each site & require our experience, expertise & specialist knowledge to ensure they’re fitted with our best installation practices. Please click here to view our range.

Add safety and elegance to your home or business with a bespoke wrought iron security door
- Hits: 3109
Eastern Suburbs Wrought Iron are specialists in wrought iron doors, crafting a bespoke solution to suit your individual needs.
Recently a customer from Croydon Hills, Victoria contacted us, they knew they wanted a wrought iron security door for strength, peace of mind & also to enhance the look and entrance to their home.
A visit to our workshop in Bayswater was recommended in order to view our wrought iron products and to discuss the design as they didn’t know exactly what they wanted.
We were able to assist with ideas & sketches after narrowing down the design type they were seeking.
During the visit, we were able to show them through our workshop to explain the process from the beginning right through to installation. They were able to see jobs we were currently working on, which included wrought iron fencing, wrought iron gates and wrought iron balustrade.
We then carried out a site measure for their door, which is an important part of the process – no two homes or sites are the same & therefore need to be visited prior to production commencing to ensure there are no issues that could hold up a job. We are solution specialists and can always find a way around any issues that may come up during a site visit.
We commenced with production; the timeframe is generally 4 to 6 weeks from job acceptance. Quality & custom-made wrought iron products take time & always look amazing when they are fitted.
Once production was completed, the door was then sent off to the galvanizer to be hot-dip galvanized, this is an extremely vital part of the process for wrought iron, as it ensures the products will be protected from rust over the long term. Without this step, the wrought iron may deteriorate in just a year or two.
Once the hot-dip galvanizing process was completed, it went through our quality control checkpoints and was then tidied & smoothed off ready to be powder coated. There are many colours to choose from, in this instance, our customers chose textured black which is a timeless & classic colour as it fits in with most homes.
Once the door returned to us from the powder coater, it was then ready to be installed. A day and time were arranged - this is probably the most rewarding and satisfying part of the process for us. To see a piece installed that we have created, and the customer has chosen is a pretty special moment.
Being able to custom make to customer’s specifications rather than having an imported off the shelf inferior product is what is unique to our business.
We make it & we fit it; we don’t use sub-contractors for our wrought iron product installations.
Feedback from our customers is that they’re very happy to be dealing with us all the way through the process, there is no being passed over from a sales representative to a production & installation manager. Here at Eastern Suburbs Wrought Iron, you deal with the same person from the start of the job till the end, as you can see from our google reviews.
As well as these customers being ecstatic with their new wrought iron door, we were delighted to know that it was extremely important to them that they were supporting a local business as well as supporting Australian manufacturing, they felt they were doing their little bit.
